We hope you enjoy this chill out zone – if you need to get away from it
all, take a look at some of Roger’s WOW places to read in! He might
even be able to book you in if it is a castle!
More seriously,
the best places to read in do not need to be in castles etc. They
simply need to be relaxing areas where you can find a little
space to get away from the every day pressures of family, work
and other distractions. Over to Roger.......
I find the garden, from sunrise when it's quiet at home, the best location and time for me. Also travelling can be a great way to maximise time available, so I tend to travel more by train than car as a result of this.
When I take some time out, in between spending quality time with my family,
I devour books, mainly business books. I find some great places to
get away from it all, with peace and quite, beautiful surroundings
and places to let you mind run free.
Being up with the sun rise at the start of every day
just offers me so much energy, opportunity and excitement about what
the day will bring.
I hear people tell me 'I never have the time'……just think, if you got up one hour earlier every day, that would give you an extra working day in every week. That’s an extra 52 days a year! How cool would that be? What could you learn during that time?

Some of Roger's favourite chill-out zones:
Castle Law – in the Great Hall, no real view but sitting in this historic building is just magical.
Easterheughs Castle – this is a fabulous stately property owned previously by Jack Vetrriano, Scotland’s best selling contemporary artist. The Music Room, now the Large Drawing Room, offers fabulous view across the Firth of Forth to Edinburgh. It also has a Secret Room – with its small movie theatre, complete with original cinema seats, refreshments and remote control lighting.
Walton Castle – in the Music Room, peaceful and quiet. When the sun is shining it is wonderful in the inner courtyard.
Dalhousie Castle – in The Mary Queen of Scots Room, or The Dalhousie Room in the main tower of the castle; both beside the window looking out onto the parkland.
Corsewall Lighthouse – in The Stevenson Suite with views of the lighthouse and the Irish Sea. Just make sure the windows have been cleaned from the salt spray!
